Booklover Mailbox – Patrick Holland, Jean Ryan and Mindy Mejia
Here are the books that entered my home over the past fortnight:
Three for review from small publishers…

I have just finished reading Patrick Holland’s The Darkest Little Corner – first class writing, review coming soon. Riding the Trains in Japan is an earlier work from Patrick, also published by Transit Lounge, a collection of essays spurned from his travels in Asia.
I received two titles from Ashland Creek Press who specialise in travel narratives and eco-literature – a collection of short stories, Survival Skills by Jean Ryan (for April release) and an intriguing novel called The Dragon Keeper by Mindy Mejia. The dragons featured are komodos, not fantasy.
What books have you acquired recently?
Audra @ Unabridged Chick is hosting Mailbox Monday in February – checkout what everyone else got!

Both books are new to me but I’m very interested in The Dragon Keeper. Look forward to your review on that.
Mystica – Yes, the cover of The Dragon Keeper really caught my attention and the Komodo dragons sounds interesting – looking forward to it.
Riding the Trains in Japan sounds like an interesting read. Enjoy all your new books!
Lucy – I don’t often read non-fiction but since I have travelled a little in Asia myself this collection of essays from Holland sounds right up my alley.
Riding the Train looks fun, I love travel stories.
Hope you enjoy your new books!
Judith – I do too. Reading about travel is much less taxing than doing it yourself and almost as interesting!
Riding the Trains in Japan looks like the sort of thing I’d enjoy – love Asia (Japan in particular) and spend far too much time on the train!
Sam – I have not been to Japan but my train experience in China many years ago was one I’ve not forgotten.
I hope you enjoy all three!
Mary – Am sure I will, these three cover a broad spectrum.
I hope all of your new books are wonderful!
I must find Riding the Trains in Japan as I may be doing that sometime this year!
Enjoy the books!
