I will be reviewing The Greenland Breach by Bernard Besson (translated by Julie Rose) in late October as part of a tour organised by Emma @ FranceBookTours.  This title is an upcoming release from Le French Book, a new digital-first publisher translating best selling French titles into English.

The Greenland Breach is billed as ‘a riveting cli-fi spy novel by prizewinning novelist and former top-level French intelligence officer’, and it took me a moment to realise that ‘cli-fi’ was not a typo but a new genre being coined – climate fiction? And this release has an Australian connection too – translator Julie Rose.

I Stole the Rain by Elisa Ruotolo is a collection of 3 stories (translated from the original Italian by Lisa McCreadie) soon to be released by another great new digital publisher also specialising in translated works, Frisch & Co. I just love how the ebook technology is making the distribution of these works a commercial proposition now.

Juno & Hannah by Beryl Fletcher is a novella being released in October by Spinifex Press who describe themselves as ‘an independent feminist press, publishing innovative and controversial feminist books with an optimistic edge’.

Lion Heart by Justin Cartwright is a new title from Bloomsbury, currently available in ebook and soon to be released in paperback (1st October). With a synopsis that begins like this…

“Richie Cathar’s father, Alaric, was a renaissance man: an intellectual, explorer, archaeologist and historian. He was also a man of the sixties: a fantasist, absentee parent and drug abuser. Alaric named his son after his hero, Richard, Coeur de Lion, but left him little when he died apart from conflicting memories. Now Richie, thirty-something, is in search of his own role…”

… how could I refuse!

Actually it has been a bit of a bumper week for books this week here, none of the above though, I had to turn down Juno and Hannah because I just cant squeeze any more in. I look forward to seeing what you think of it though.

Yes, Shelleyrae – blame it on the Spring release season (it’s great!). My schedule is tight (by my standards) too but it sounded that little bit different and so I figured I could just squeeze a novella in ;)
