I’ve been looking forward to your review. With boundaries, especially the sort that shock or, the reverse, make you feel you’ve found something you’re going to love, there’s definitely a point when it becomes too much. More is less. That you’ve given the writing a 4 is good enough for me, I’m going to go look for a sample chapter. It sounds too different to ignore.

I’ve never really considered reading a travel memoir (just never thought about it rather than disliking them) but this sounds like a book I’d like. I have to say the addition of history and your description of writing sounds brilliant, even if I can see how the writing can be over the top at times. The cover had me in mind of a crime novel at first!
