Book Blogger Hop, July 23 – 26

blogger+hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books, and is a great way to discover other great blogs and bloggers who share your reading tastes. (And how cute is the button!)

This week Jennifer has asked us to talk about the book we are currently reading:

I have just finished listening to The Return by Victoria Hislop. It is a beautiful enveloping tale of the Spanish Civil War. Although books often move me, they rarely move me to tears, but this one had that affect on me – which isn’t great when you are driving a vehicle while listening!

The Returnir?t=bookbookrevi 20&l=bil&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B002Q1YEO4As I participate in the blog hop this week I’ll be adding links to blogs I’ve hopped by on which I’ve found some book reviews that particularly caught my attention:

Shan from ‘Curled Up With a Good Book and a Cup of Tea’ has written a great review of The Point of Rescue by Sophie Hannah. I have not read anything by Sophie Hannah, but based on Shan’s review, it sounds like I should.

Booksploring is a blog I visit often as she provides the best book recommendations! Her recent review of The Good Mayor by Andrew Nicoll is definitely worth a look – it is now on my wishlist.

Found a new blog on the hop today, Ellie at Musings of a Bookshop Girl, and she really does work in a secondhand bookshop – lucky thing. Quite a few books caught my eye while browsing her blog but Brooklyn by Colm Toibin probably most of all. It reminds me a little of one of the story lines that featured in a book I’ve just finished reading and absolutely loved, Let The Great World Spin by Colum McCann.

Another new blog to me this week is What Red Read – love the name! In her review of the book I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley, her mention of why she felt she had to hold back her laughter while reading on the train brought a smile to my face.
