Nicola May on The Gift of Cockleberry Bay, series final

The Gift of Cockleberry Bay… Nicola May discusses the third and final book in the #1 bestselling Cockleberry Bay series.

I can personally recommend this series as I was thoroughly charmed by Book 1 The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay. It was a delightful romantic comedy novel, cosy crime mystery and moving story of personal growth and transformation. I look forward to reading books #2 and #3.

Nicola May’s Cockleberry Bay Series

The genre of chick-lit; romantic comedy; romance; or whatever it has been labelled, may not have been taken totally seriously in the past. But now, more importantly than ever, it is time to ignore the naysayers and immerse yourself in a cosy story to help you forget about what is going on outside closed doors.

I feel blessed that I can offer some sort of comfort at this time with my writing, which has been described as chick-lit with a kick. I write to my genre but the only real fluffiness in my recent books comes in the guise of Hot Dog, a cute little dachshund. The rest is a combination of real heartfelt emotion, brought on by the big themes that I am not afraid to tackle, such as grief, infertility, infidelity and addiction.

Where is Cockleberry Bay based on?

My recent Cockleberry Bay series is based in Devon, which for those of you not from the UK, is a county in the south-west of England and in my opinion is the most beautiful, picturesque coastal area in my whole country. I had some memorable holidays down there as a child and in writing about the fictitious Cockleberry Bay, my mission was to capture the community dynamic of a small coastal town and give its scenery and atmosphere full justice. I think the success of the series- the first book of which is still sitting at #1 in the whole of the UK Kindle store, 2 years after publication – is not only due to the fact that the central character, Rosa was bought up in foster care, and is flawed and likable; but also the fact that the community spirit I convey is so strong.

The Cockleberry Bay Series, 3 Books

We have no choice but to be present at the moment. We should become involved in our own communities and be kind to each other. Life as we know it has changed and there is no certainty to how the future will look. Keeping our minds in the now and dealing with the new challenges that we face day-by-day, in my opinion is the way to get through this.

Those of us who are not keyworkers, have been given time. Time to jump off the mad rollercoaster that is life. Time to embrace this period of downtime and to do things that we may have felt that we haven’t had time for in the past. This includes lots of reading!

The Gift of Cockleberry Bay; the third in the #1 bestselling Cockleberry Bay series is out on April 2.

#3 Cockleberry Bay Series

All our favourite characters from Cockleberry Bay are back, including Hot, Rosa Smith’s adorable dachshund, and his new-born puppies.

Now successfully running the Cockleberry Café and wishing to start a family herself, Rosa feels the time is right to let her inherited corner shop go. However, her benefactor left one important legal proviso: that the shop cannot be sold, only passed on to somebody who really deserves it.

Rosa is torn. How can she make such a huge decision? And will it be the right one? Once the news gets out, untrustworthy strangers appear in the Bay, their motives uncertain. With the revelation of more secrets from Rosa’s family heritage, a new series of unpredictable and life-changing events begins to unfold.

The Gift of Cockleberry Bay concludes this phenomenally successful series in typically brisk and bolshy style, and will delight Rosa’s many thousands of fans.
