THE FRONT by Patricia Cornwell

BOOK REVIEW : Having read this book, my first ever from Cornwell, I’m somewhat perplexed. I’d heard great things about this author, and this wasn’t at all what I had expected. To begin with, this is the shortest book I have read in many years and I found the large font and spaced text somewhat off-putting. The plot itself was a reasonable concept – but in my opinion the characters and several elements of the mystery were simply under-developed. I did find myself quite absorbed though, looking (or hoping) for more meaning than what was presented on the surface.
Unfortunately, the ending failed to deliver the thought provoking twist I’d hoped was hidden beneath the simplicity.
