Book Blogger Appreciation Week 2012

It is Book Blogger Appreciation Week and although I started Booklover Book Reviews in September 2009 (cannot believe it has been 3yrs already!) this will be the first year I have been able to find time to actively participate.

Today’s topic for discussion is Appreciation!

There are no awards this year, but it can still be hard to navigate the huge universe of book blogging. Share with your readers some of the blogs you enjoy reading daily and why.

Oh dear, I avoid singling people out in speeches because one of the few things that is certain in this world is that you will leave someone out that should have been mentioned. So, with great trepidation, here is a sample of the book blogs that have become favourites of mine:

The Year In Books – Nancy O was extremely welcoming to me in my early blogging days and I have found that we have very similar tastes in reading. A book recommendation from Nancy holds much weight with me.

Farm Lane Book Blog – While Jackie and I do not always share the same taste in novels (she does not like charming and I do) I devour each post of hers that arrives in my inbox. She is always on top of what is happening in the world of books, whether it is which releases are coming up each month or what her predictions are for the various book prizes. She balances opinion with politeness beautifully too I think.

Reading Matters – I have immense respect for what Kim has done on her blog so consistently for many years. She reads widely and clearly has a wealth of knowledge about the publishing industry. Her reviews are particularly insightful and often conclude with recommendations such as “if you like ‘BookA’ or ‘BookB’ then you will like this book” which I find extremely helpful.

The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader – Marg is another of the bloggers that was very supportive of me when Booklover Book Reviews was a mere fledgling in the book blogging community. Like me she is a big supporter of Australian authors and injects her own warm and down-to-earth personality into her writing.

Reading With Tea – Yvann is such a quirky character and I follow her blog as much for the conversation about life as I do for her book reviews. She has opinions and is not afraid to share them.

There are countless other book blogs I subscribe to and devour with gusto each week, far too many to list them all. But if any from this sample above are new to you, do check them out.

See which blogs others list as their favourites at the BBAW Day One: Appreciation link-up!
