Some small renovations at Booklover Book Reviews

I have made a few small changes to Booklover Book Reviews recently:

  • I have setup my own Google Plus profile and added a Google Plus icon on each of my posts. If you would like to share my content on that burgeoning forum, now you can do so easily.

  • I have created a dedicated page listing the authors featured on the site called Book Reviews by Author. That page can be found either via the header menu under the Book Reviews by Title page, or via the new shiny red buttons I have created for my sidebar.

  • Now that I have a dedicated page providing links to articles by author, I have removed the long list of authors once shown in my sidebar. It worked well in the website’s infancy but now that I have literally hundreds of author tags on my site, the list was getting cumbersome.
  • I have removed the floating Follow tab that used to appear to the left of your screen when you visited Booklover Book Reviews. I have replaced this with some more simple and stationary Subscribe text links on my sidebar.

  • I have also set up some page, object and browser caching and reduced the number of recent posts that automatically display on the Booklover Book Reviews homepage.  This has notably improved my website page load time.

If you are interested in improving your website’s page speed, Google provide a free tool called PageSpeed Insights that I found helpful. You just enter the URL of the page you want to have analysed and it returns a score out of 100 and suggestions for how to improve that score.

Hopefully these little renovations will improve your browsing experience on Booklover Book Reviews.

Any feedback on what elements you like or least like on my site will be gratefully received, and acted upon if my technical abilities stretch that far!
